Belief? Will your robot kill you?

Yesterday someone gave me shit for not supporting @Figure_robot more.

Others have said the same about my support of @1x_tech. I'm sure someone will say "why aren't you supporting @sama as he moves into robotics more?"

I hope they all succeed and will certainly talk about any products they present to all of us (I have the most complete list of robotics here on X if you want to follow along).

But I have two robots sitting in my driveway that I trust my life to from @tesla.

I can't see how I will get to the place where I'll trust my life to robots from other companies other than @waymo or @Tesla or @zoox. One of the advantages of doing autonomous vehicles. Which really are specialized robots.

In doing consumer research this will matter a lot someday.

We tend to keep buying products from companies that we trust our lives to.

My robot drives next to a wall on a curvy road at 80 m.p.h. and it hasn't killed me, or my family, yet.

This is why Tesla could enter the humanoid, or other robotics, markets years after others figure out how to make it all work and still get me as a customer.

If I was at OpenAI, or the others, helping market its robotics team, this "belief" be hard to overcome.

Oh, and when I do consumer research about humanoid robots, I hear over and over the belief that the industry is building a "Terminator" robot that eventually will kill them.

But the autonomous car robot companies are building a different belief "their robots save my life."

Someday that belief will matter.
