Unitree Releases UnifoLM-OminiA-0.3 Model For Omni-Modal Robot Manipulation

Unitree Robotics says its new UnifoLM-OminiA-0.3 model can handle real-time omni-modal interaction and whole-body mobile manipulation, using a single system for tasks the company frames as home-care and wellness work. A Techiexpert report on the announcement says the model powers Unitree's Benben humanoid robot and is meant to combine vision, speech and physical control in one stack. That was enough to kick off debate on X, where the pitch landed for some users as a genuine step forward and for others as another reminder that polished demos are still demos.

Hey @Tesla_Optimus you must admit: the bar keeps getting raised every month. Er, week. That thing about exponents is on my mind. Very hard to catch and gets worse with each double. So rewards fast, and correct, decisions. A new kind of AI maybe? @blevlabs just told me that he thinks he has something that gives an advantage. Will see. But he is winning a lot of people over. More news is his to tell, but he was in a great mood Friday night. He was the second 21-year old I spent a lot of time with. Another was at Dimensional’s open house. These people are so alive. And can learn so fast. And if you ever get to look into genius young eyes you will see the future is pretty cool indeed.

I am still very bullish on Optimus. Elon has taste and diversity the others don’t have. And a few big factories.
Its funny how the more advanced capabilities get, the more obviously limited these models are. Single model doing reasoning, dialogue, and interaction is incredibly impressive, but it makes you notice more how certain things are staged - always interacting with same drawer, etc
