Minerva Humanoids emerged from stealth on October 6 with a plan to build robots for hazardous work. Kylie Robison introduced the company, while a report she wrote for Core Memory says it has raised $10 million and is targeting jobs on oil rigs and in bomb disposal.

    Featured Source

The company operates from a small office in San Francisco's South Park neighborhood, according to the report linked in a post from Ashlee Vance. Its team includes 26-year-old CEO Sandor Felber, cofounder and CTO Maurice Rahme, first engineering hire Ali Kuwajerwala, and Roger, its humanoid product.

The mission also shapes the office's room names, which reference industrial catastrophes including Chernobyl, Deepwater and Piper Alpha. Felber told Robison the team uses those names because it takes the mission seriously.
