Announcement
RoboCloth releases a dataset of 500 real cloth materials
RoboCloth’s team says each material was imaged in roughly 580 high-dynamic-range frames with robot-controlled cameras and lighting.
TLDR
RoboCloth’s researchers say they captured 500 real cloth materials to train a system that reconstructs how fabric reflects light. They released the dataset under CC BY 4.0 and report that a decoder trained on their captures outperformed decoders trained on existing measured-reflectance datasets and an analytic fitting baseline in their reconstruction tests.
