AI Aids Pathfinding in 1980s Star Trek Atari Game

NLP researcher notes AI solving navigation in classic pixel-art title from his youth

    TLDR

Djamé Seddah posted on X that people are using AI to reverse engineer a 40-year-old Star Trek game for the Atari ST and locate winnable paths between planets. He recalled owning the title on a pirated floppy, the long loading times, and his confusion while playing. The post includes a static pixel-art screenshot of the retro game interface and links to an atari-forum.com thread. No independent verification of the AI pathfinding claim appears in the visible conversation.

@zehavocAi is amazing, people are using it to reverse engineer a 40 year old star trek game that run on the Atari ST so they can find a winnable path (going from planet X to planet Z, etc...). For the record the game looks like that. I had it on some pirated floppy, remember the super long loading times and my total lack of understanding of what was going on. Looks a bit like Elite, maybe ? https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=499939&sid=ad4915cc09252fa4f51e4622e7cf914f#p499939
