Yearlong project reportedly yields bounds comparing all monotone spectral filters

The project’s author says GPT-5 supplied a clever proof for an upper bound of pcr after initially giving useless results.

    TLDR

The project’s author says they supplied the right-hand side of the pcr bound that GPT-5 later helped prove. After initially getting “useless junk” from the model, they say the proof let their team pursue more ambitious bounds comparing all monotone spectral filters. They say the yearlong project is now finished.

@jasondeanleeFinally finished this yearlong project. It started with gpt 5 giving useless junk when I was in Cargèse and then it shocking us with this clever proof for an upper bound of pcr (I supplied the rhs of the bound). This let us be even more ambitious to finally get bounds comparing all monotone spectral filters.
