That's why we work on robotics products while still spending time building an open-source community.

I think the issue is people want to make money and people also don’t have the compute needed
Like a top tier researcher could make 500k and have a giant compute cluster or they could work for free with no real compute
It would be great if we had a decentralized open lab where researchers are paid based on their contributions to a shared model.
Investors could fund researchers with compute. If that researcher improves the model, they earn a share of the upside.
The hard part is figuring out where the profits come to pay everyone . One option is a coin system where people earn coins for providing compute, running inference, or making model improvements.
