    TLDR

A user argues that AI alignment risks can be managed without solving alignment before building AI. They say there would be time to react and change course even in a worst-case scenario, and call the idea of an overnight superintelligence breakout that kills everyone a “scary fantasy.”

@xlr8hardersince i'm occasionally challenged on how we can possibly solve alignment, my answer is that I reject the frame that you must "solve alignment" before building AI, that it can be risk managed like anything else, and that in the case of absolutely worst case scenario we will still still have time to react and change course. the overnight breakout superintelligence that kills everyone is just a scary fantasy used to turn off your brain.3h
