Sure sounds like a hit job
White House blocked the release of Anthropic's Fable model following lobbying from Amazon and other tech competitors
Story Overview
Anthropic had lined up a June 9 launch of Fable, its first general-use version of the advanced Mythos model, after clearing the idea with officials in advance. Within days the Commerce Department stepped in with an export-control order that forced the company to cut off access for foreign nationals and ultimately everyone, citing unspecified national-security risks.
Rivals shape sudden restrictions
Calls from Amazon and at least five other firms to senior administration officials appear to have accelerated the reversal, turning a pre-cleared release into a full stop within 48 hours.
Compliance forces blanket shutdown
Anthropic disabled Fable and Mythos for all users rather than risk penalties, coordinating with AWS to revoke regional access even though the precise national-security evidence behind the order has not been shared.
Many users strongly distrust Anthropic and its partners over the push to block its AI model release, calling them insane crackheads or nazis who can't be trusted with justice or fairness.

Sure sounds like a hit job

Maybe, but the bigger signal is that frontier AI is no longer being treated like ordinary software.
Once it’s treated as a strategic asset, competitor disclosures, government intervention, export controls, and national-security arguments become part of the landscape.
That precedent will shape capital, competition, and policy long after this particular controversy is forgotten.

Three months ago, @DeptofWar kicked @AnthropicAI out of our building—forever.
Every passing day proves why that was the right move. 🇺🇸

@Miles_Brundage I wouldn't put it below Sam Altman, he has a very strong motive.

@Miles_Brundage We Americans are suppose to trust and honor this AI eventually? They are out of their minds insane.
Just Say No, like Nancy told us as children.

@kristoph @Miles_Brundage Its become pretty obvious recently with Jensen and Bezos both essentially calling him out by name as an antagonizer

@Miles_Brundage I don't trust crackheads. Do you? How could you trust these crackheads?

@Miles_Brundage There is really no question that most of the industry leaders dislike Dario.

@Miles_Brundage yeah cuz amazon is not an investor or anything

@Miles_Brundage What is the benefit for Amazon in doing this? Aren’t they Anthropic investors?

@Miles_Brundage I’m starting to wonder if it’s all a plan to boot Dario out and make Elon the CEO

@Miles_Brundage sources say. k. y?

@bryancsk The downside of having investors is that they learn things.

@Miles_Brundage All models are jail breakable. Why only Anthropic is punished.

@Miles_Brundage What makes you think that?

@Miles_Brundage The market will regulate itself

@bryancsk @Miles_Brundage Is the implication that this was supposed to help the xAI IPO? Also, based on David Sacks comments why would we think it was Amazon and not Palantir that did this? Didn’t Karp come out hours after the news saying “Intold you so?”.

@Miles_Brundage @bradrcarson Time will tell, assuming details of the jailbreak make it out, but the particular jailbreak that was discovered is much worse than what Anthropic claims in their blog post.
