    TLDR

Gergely Orosz, creator of The Pragmatic Engineer newsletter, addressed a frequent developer question about code in the AI era. He stated that quality no longer matters because generated code targets the machine and functionality. If the output works and remains correct, he said, humans will probably stop reading it. The remark came in a public post on X where he noted that code is written for results rather than readability by people.

@GergelyOroszSuch a common question from devs. My take: no, with code it’s starting to totally not matter because you don’t generate code for PEOPLE but for the machine / for functionality. Does it work? Is it correct? If yes: code no longer matters and soon a human will prob not read it
