Bashing AI gets more views, remember that
I'm done. I'm f***ing done.
Creators distribute false negative claims to generate financial profit.

I'm done. I'm f***ing done.
Negative users attacked commentators like Matthew Berman and Mo as grifters or clickbait creators discussing negative AI posts, while some praised efforts to call out false negativity and highlight AI's benefits.

What are the top 3 misconceptions fueling this phenomenon of fear around AI?
People fear AI due to misconceptions that it steals creative work, will maliciously eliminate jobs, and serves only tech oligarchs' greed. These fuel negative content's edge by validating audiences' preference for fear and anger over AI's documented gains in science and productivity.

@MatthewBerman way the opposite dude 😂 prompting protips gets you 3.2m views on here

@iruletheworldmo which part was false? i do make reference to a very pro-ai video i just did over the weekend (on yt).
this is just one man’s journey. obviously people actually feel this way too. you know that right?
for the years it was the opposite
bashing AI gets more views than it used to BECAUSE PEOPLE FIGURED OUT HOW GREEDY MOST OF THE TECH OLIGARCHS ARE.
even the Pope felt it was time to speak out.

@atmoio @MatthewBerman I’ve ran numbers on this. AI hate does much better on average 🙃

@atmoio Average vs outlier
General sentiment of AI is quite negative, the audience for pessimistic content is 2x bigger in the US
I appreciate criticism of AI though, it is needed

@MatthewBerman I don’t think I’ve ever seen a week where he isn’t bashing AI

@Chrisgpt I don’t mind criticism of AI, it’s a good thing. Just want people to make sure people also know the state of content creation.
Also, in this video he conflates consciousness and AGI and other concepts.

@iruletheworldmo There's a lot of money in it, far more than there is on this side.

i can’t watch more than three minutes but for those dunking on me for attacking mo rather than his points, great name btw.
mo does not make any points.
he broadly attacks people and their ideas without offering his own and then goes onto attack coding models for being useless because they’re general.
when i only know of his videos because he’s terrified of these same systems replacing him.
i get where these fears would come from but there’s a point at which wallowing in fear or producing doom bait is unproductive and/or a net negative on society.

i honestly feel much more icky making videos like these than i do ones that are balanced. this one in particular really just is meant to be the “drunken rant” genre.
but i’m also not gonna hold back from sharing how i feel if i do sincerely feel that way. try watching the last few videos if you want and see if you think i’m being unfair. i mean the one video that maybe you have seen is “i was a 10x engineer now im useless” video. and that was very clearly “pro-AI” in the sense of admitting ai is replacing me. so again i’m just telling stories and the stories are predicated by my experiences and mood on the day.
balanced videos in my experience do better than ones that are overly “negative”
the only video with ~1m views on youtube is one of the more balanced one i made imo

@atmoio i just get the sense. and happy to be wrong.
that you’re either purely baiting.
or you actually feel dread, a video did well and now a dopamine spiral has forced you to make the same video.
i could be wrong but ive only seen your, we’re all doomed and ai sucks videos.

@AndrewCurran_ yeah i don't mind the critical takes but when it's just constant dunking on ai or anthropic, clearly in bad faith.
it irks me.

@atmoio @MatthewBerman I can most certainly attest to this. I do find it crapping on AI to be the second best way to get views though

@MatthewBerman @atmoio If you appreciate criticism of AI, why are you framing it as "bashing" and insinuating that it is done for viewership - even though everything Mo said is completely reasonable?
@theo @atmoio It makes logical sense given the majority of people in the US (and I suspect worldwide) have a negative view of AI and want to reinforce their beliefs.
Also, human nature gravitates towards fear and anger.
@atmoio @MatthewBerman I’ve ran numbers on this. AI hate does much better on average 🙃

@ArnaldoCapo @MatthewBerman You use Vercel. Your opinion means nothing to me.

@ThePrimeagen @atmoio Hey at least we’re all getting views from AI?

@atmoio 3.2m you say?

@MatthewBerman Matt, exaggurations at both ends are causing polarizations "A.I. will take all your jobs" v.s. "A.I. will solve all your problems including abundance"

@MatthewBerman wait what
