    TLDR

Santiago Valdarrama posted his internal conflict over raising a child around AI. He wants to avoid letting the technology replace thinking yet still expose his son to its capabilities. Valdarrama listed two immediate goals: building a decision framework for when to rely on AI versus independent effort, and teaching methods to assess AI reliability and verify its outputs. The statement comes directly from the educator known for teaching production machine learning.

@svpinoI'm struggling with this and my kid. I don't want him to use AI to sidestep thinking, but I also want him to become aware of the possibilities. I have two goals right now: 1) Create a mental model for him to decide when to use AI and when to think by himself. 2) Teach him when to trust AI and how to validate anything he gets from it.
