@RichDecibelswhy I am 0% worried about AI killing everyone: - all signs so far suggest AI will have profoundly positive AND negative AND inconceivable outcomes for humanity - there's no reason to believe the outcomes will suddenly irrevocably cluster negative - your psychology equates safety with predictably so an unpredictable outlook feels like extreme danger - as soon as "infinite negative utility" enters your cognition you lose rationality. c.f. every cult in history - we are deeply imprinted by the grammar of apocalypse. climate apocalypse, peak oil, nuclear winter, all variations of the Hell myth. the characters keep changing but the story is the same - history always looks like multitudes of diverging vectors always pulling in every direction never resolving to stasis - humanity's place in the web of life is the species with most adaptibility, resilience and diverse habitat, no reason yet to believe computer programs will be more resilient than us - you gotta start acting like God is in your corner
