    TLDR

Rohit Krishnan posted that he experienced API key leaks a couple of times about a year ago. The issues appeared completely out of the blue. He stated that nobody knew the reason and that someone else had likely used the key after it leaked somewhere. Krishnan added he was unsure of the exact problem. He described blanket bans as incredibly scary given how much people depend on the affected systems.

@krishnanrohitThis happened a couple times to me a year or so ago. Completely out of the blue. Nobody knew the reason, as far as I could tell the problem was an API key leaked somewhere and someone else used it, but I'm honestly not sure. No matter what, blanket bans especially when we depend on it so much are incredibly scary.
