Lightspeed's AI pivot includes more than $3 billion invested in Anthropic

Newcomer reports that Lightspeed changed its AI investment strategy after missing early stakes in companies including OpenAI. Following an April 2023 meeting, it invested $50 million in Mistral’s seed round that June, committed $1 billion to Anthropic’s Series E in January 2025 and has deployed more than $3 billion to Anthropic overall.
