Trump says Anthropic is no longer a security concern after export controls restricted foreign access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5

The legal fight over this is only just beginning, and it will steadily ramp up through 2027. Open source will probably reach Mythos-level capabilities by the end of the year. Anthropic themselves have said that Mythos will look like a toy compared to what the closed labs will have nine months from now.

Imagine this same fight playing out now, but over a model ten times more capable than Mythos - and the broad capabilities emergent from that - because that is what we're heading into. Then imagine the arguments that will erupt the moment that model is released as open source. National security reach, citizenship requirements for working on or even using these models, security clearances, government regulatory authority, the limits of open-source freedom, and even the nationalization of labs - all of these will become part of the storm we enter over the next twelve months on our current heading.
