Flock Safety AI Searches People by Race

Dhruv Mehrotra reported for WIRED that Flock markets its cameras as unable to identify or track individuals. The team obtained the code for the company's police AI system and rebuilt sections of it. The resulting tool can locate witnesses, identify associates, search individuals by race or physical traits, and flag vehicles based on movement patterns. A linked WIRED article states the cameras have drawn prior criticism and that reconstruction confirms the system extends well beyond license plate tracking. The article notes the AI is already deployed with some police departments.
