I honestly love the move toward more specialized models like Inkling. So many of these massive, general-purpose AI systems end up feeling a bit watered down because they're trying to be everything to everyone at once. Having an open model gives a lot more room for actual customization and niche applications where one-size-fits-all just doesn't cut it. It feels like we’re finally seeing some real diversity in how these tools are being built instead of just chasing the biggest, most generic scale possible.
11:09 AM · Jul 15, 2026@tinkerapi @thinkymachines @_Mantic_AI Great job Team! Incredible work in a very short space of time. I love that it's open weight too👌🏽 This is how the majority of humanity will be empowered.

11:29 AM · Jul 15, 2026@natolambert For a first release it's really impressive.
11:19 AM · Jul 15, 2026Love this approach to open releases from Thinky -- release a practical foundation to build on. I expect this to succeed for them, much as Tinker has exceeded many people's expectations (myself included)!
11:08 AM · Jul 15, 2026I like that Inkling is mediocre on benchmarks this suggests they haven't been cutting corners too much with distillation. So their independent data pipeline will shine through, and it's not reducible to scores. By the second-third update, they become a meaningful player.
12:58 PM · Jul 15, 2026The model features balanced capabilities across text, images, and audio.

12:58 PM · Jul 15, 2026Inkling was somewhat inevitable once Tinker took off -- integration of post-training services across @thinkymachines's entire stack -- and it's one of the best open-model business stories to date. Excited to see it grow and more emerge (some inference companies are next).
11:33 AM · Jul 15, 2026@brhydon @thinkymachines I'll get it in 5m if you get it on OpenRouter!
