    TLDR

Guinness Chen, an OpenAI engineer on the Codex and ChatGPT Voice teams, stated that voice can now be started from any existing Codex thread. Users can discuss a PR, debate architecture, or plan next steps with the agent before returning to text. The change is live on ChatGPT Desktop and iOS, with Android support arriving next week. Multiple OpenAI engineers shared the update and noted it removes an earlier limitation when moving between voice and thread views.

@guinnesschenVoice is now available in your existing Codex threads. Talk through a PR with the agent that wrote it, debate the architecture, or work out what comes next. You can jump into voice whenever something needs a back-and-forth, then let the agent keep working once you’ve figured it out together.
@athyuttamreVoice in Codex now continues your existing threads and projects:

@SIGKITTENYou can now start voice from a thread! Available on ChatGPT Desktop, iOS and coming to Android next week!
@altryneThis is not as big as astra, but having voice on any codex thread is a huge deal! 👏
