The post consists of a single question about the output produced by AI. It asks why everything AI writes consists of 10 billion lines of code. The supplied source line presents this statement exactly as it appeared. No additional context, replies, or confirmations appear in the packet. The cluster topic is listed as ai. The message stands as the author's own remark rather than a verified fact about AI behavior. @svpinoI don't read code anymore, so evaluating outputs is most of what I do now.
@Suhailwhy is everything AI writes 10 billion lines of code?
@andrewchen10x AI slop cannon > 10x engineer There I said it
@yacineMTBEven as the top AI models surpass me in intelligence, they can't hold a candle to me on instinct, taste, understanding
@GergelyOroszThe second startup with kickass engineers in two weeks who sent over an eng blog post about a cool thing they built that is... TERRIBLE Because it is 95% or more AI A punishment to read. Half the thing not defined when you put in the effort to parse the overcomplicated sentences, filled with filler adjectives, and AI mannerisms slapped on top. So if someone is determined enough to spend 3-5x as much time reading it as a human-written text would take (thanks to the funky grammar AI likes to do with technical writing), you realize the damn thing is full of holes, and whowever wrote this is making things up. Because the AI is making things up!! And the dev who was given the writing assignment probably chose the easy route; no one read beyond the first sentence; and then they shipped slop.
@MilesCranmerAI slop in software has gotten so bad that I've had to start maintaining private forks of most of my dev stack. Every release, I go and cherry-pick the bug fixes and delete the new features. Madness.
@TaylorLorenzOk, I am a bad programmer. But AI can write better code than me faster than me. So what’s the problem here? I really struggle to understand this mentality when it comes to using AI for coding (which I’d argue it’s actually good at!)
@omooretweetsI actually often find the opposite - at least with one-shot writing AI writing typically sounds so good / polished that it disguises low idea density, and gets published as-is Have Claude write a paragraph and then pick a phrase and ask “what does this actually mean”
@EMostaqueIn 2023 I said there would be no more developers by 2028 AI is moving across the threshold now Next year it will write better code than all but a few of you (I have some awesome followers) 2027 it will instantly generate almost all code 2028 folk will run out of ideas
