UChicago announced today that it had partnered with AI company Anthropic to give students, faculty, and staff access to Claude Enterprise services on a rolling basis starting in July. All University community members will have access by fall quarter. Story to come.
Positive users praise UChicago's Anthropic partnership for Claude access as a smart institutional choice, while negative users call it embarrassing and accuse it of enabling cheating or undermining faculty.

I agree! As I wrote in my op ed, "Whether your degree is in English or Computer Science, you should be using not just ChatGPT, but also Claude Code, Codex, and products from cool startups I haven’t heard of."
Every university student regardless of field should get the chance to learn and use coding agents. Good on Anthropic and UChicago for this and I hope many other universities will follow suit.

@ChicagoMaroon that's nice bc UChicago has historically not been recognized for prowess in AI, but integration with AI might empower its unique basis vector/semi-iconoclasm (it is also not AS subject to fads as many east/west coast universities)

UChicago once had the funniest most irreverent bathroom graffiti (they sounded like they came straight from an autoadmit poster). UChicago Confessions was funnier than *any* confessions page other than mb a bit of MIT Confessions.
i felt like it attracted more "provocative academics" than other universities! [it has always been less woke than other top USian universities!]
