I agree! As I wrote in my op ed, "Whether your degree is in English or Computer Science, you should be using not just ChatGPT, but also Claude Code, Codex, and products from cool startups I haven’t heard of."
Every university student regardless of field should get the chance to learn and use coding agents. Good on Anthropic and UChicago for this and I hope many other universities will follow suit.

@ChicagoMaroon This is how cigarette companies got folks hooked. Same strategy.

@ChicagoMaroon Fuck off, you are currently gutting your faculty you evil university

@ChicagoMaroon that's nice bc UChicago has historically not been recognized for prowess in AI, but integration with AI might empower its unique basis vector/semi-iconoclasm (it is also not AS subject to fads as many east/west coast universities)

@ChicagoMaroon Idle chit-chat aside, and ongoing, let’s start learning the tool to “find the best paths forward” in real life. Yes, this makes sense.

@ChicagoMaroon Can’t wait to see this spectacularly backfire when they find out students will burn through millions in tokens every semester vibe coding and building agents to do all their thinking and work for them.
What is the purpose of university at this point?

@ChicagoMaroon lol clown college ass move

@ChicagoMaroon The partnership sounds great, but I'm genuinely curious how they plan to manage usage and token costs at that scale. Also what would be the usage limits per student?

@ChicagoMaroon To what end? Illiteracy? Moral injury? Anthropic's valuation? A joke?

@ChicagoMaroon Deeply, deeply embarrassing

@ChicagoMaroon Great choice.

@ChicagoMaroon @AL_Pseudo @wmnjoya look, the future of education is here!🌝

@ahabthewhaler1 @ChicagoMaroon I mean great from the perspective of students getting access to AI tools. I am just wondering what the usage limits look like.

@ChicagoMaroon bro im gonna put the school into 100k more deficit from cc

@vij_03 @ChicagoMaroon What sounds great about the partnership

UChicago once had the funniest most irreverent bathroom graffiti (they sounded like they came straight from an autoadmit poster). UChicago Confessions was funnier than *any* confessions page other than mb a bit of MIT Confessions.
i felt like it attracted more "provocative academics" than other universities! [it has always been less woke than other top USian universities!]
