Anthropic loses hundreds of Claude Pro and Max subscriptions

I cancelled my Claude Code sub. I give up.

He's right. Stop trying to lock people in. If you just made Claude code a better product, people wouldn't go to other places and try to wrap your stuff. Not a lot of people mind using codex.. it's because it's actually good software /goal

@thegenioo You’re missing the other piece…what is the cost of keeping them? Are they spending more in net bottom line than paying. If so, the loss is a net gain

@thegenioo Claude is taking a shortcut to failure, honestly. The number of people moving to codex just based on consumer faith alone is crazy. Humas, don't forget that shit.

@thegenioo @theo 285k/year is child’s play compared to risks involved on losing on compute demand and availability to provide services to companies that actually pay for API calls, not subsidized subscriptions.

Their xAI deal for inference probably is the sign how they are committed to meet it

@thegenioo @ashtonasidhu They most certainly are profitable on per model basis, and FYI, they can (and obv should) make these changes since demand is soaring. They would be stupid not to. OpenAI can give away usage because they lack demand.

@thegenioo We've already had one business customer, around 100 seats let us know they are canceling. They're going to switch to Copilot. They were using Clairvoyance so make Claude Code more usable for their teams.

@thegenioo You guys are too SWE-focused: other users will adopt agentic tools and cutting back on costly programmatic usage will enable Anthropic to better serve them than concurrent platforms who are hemorrhaging money in subsidies
