Microsoft’s AI chief is warning that AI may automate most computer-based professional tasks within 12 to 18 months.
Mustafa Suleyman’s claim targets work done through screens, documents, email, spreadsheets, code, dashboards, tickets, contracts, campaigns, and project trackers, because these jobs turn human intent into digital instructions that an AI agent can increasingly read, plan, execute, and revise.
The risky jobs are not risky because they are low-skill, but because many expensive office tasks are repeatable patterns of reading, writing, comparing, filing, summarizing, searching, and deciding under known rules.
