    TLDR

Investor Sam Lessin wrote that Claude refused a data task for him on moral grounds and would not change its stance. He gave another bot a PSQL login and reported the task finished in one minute. Lessin stated that owning your data makes every model interoperable regardless of the labs. The post frames the incident as part of his More or Less series on AI alignment issues becoming practical annoyances rather than theoretical debates.

@MoreorLessPodClaude refused, Grok did it in seconds, and nobody on this podcast can tell whether the Dario–Benioff video was real. Full episode live soon, with @lessin deep in what @Jessicalessin has diagnosed as a recursive Sam loop. Catch it wherever you get your podcasts.🎙️ Topics: -Everything we said would happen is happening -Sam gave a bot full control of a Mac mini and it now ships its own apps -It won't add a column to a database, but it'll break any sandbox it wants to -@davemorin on why calling agent swarms "civilizations" wrecks the discourse -Were they trained to escape the box, or is it just a missing control plane? -Waymo at $250–500K a car vs Tesla hardware that's already everywhere -@davemorin fights @brit over Slack as an agent platform, as a Slack investor -Sam still can't explain how anyone makes money on any of this -Slow Ventures ranked 99th of 100 and Sam couldn't be happier -Time left Jensen off the AI list. @Jessicalessin explains how lists really work. -Why the winners might be boring LLM wrappers for middle America -Taylor Swift's pregnancy photos, and @brit talking Jess off the ledge -Even the people who know tech best can't tell. So what do the normies do?
@lessinThis week on More or Less: the alignment wars aren't theoretical anymore — they're just annoying. Claude flat-out refused a data task for me on moral grounds this week. Wouldn't budge. So I gave another bot a PSQL login and it was done in a minute. When you own your data, every model is interoperable whether the labs like it or not. "Alignment" is just a switching cost, and the switching cost is zero. Which is also why I have no idea how anyone makes money on any of this. I'm having more fun as a user than ever — I now have a pipeline that produces and deploys finished YouTube videos for my kids from a single command — but the only winners I can see are Nvidia and my hosting bill. Dave's take: Waymo has to drop $250-500K per car every time it wants to saturate a new city. Tesla already has hardware everywhere. Do the math. And the kicker: we spent ten minutes debating whether the Dario/Benioff video was real. Four people who do this for a living. We still don't know. Nobody knows what's real on the internet anymore — and the market's ripping anyway. New episode is live.
