Apple spent $10 billion on capex versus rivals' $38B-$82B.
And where are all the @Apple and AI bandwagon naysayers now? All of this is happening before Apple has even fully unleashed a powerful, privacy-first Edge AI platform across its installed base. Apple has long understood that this is fundamentally a personal computing game, not a cloud/mainframe game. The cloud has its place, but the long-term opportunity lies in augmenting individuals with AI that is fast, private, and deeply integrated with their devices. The market may finally be catching up. 😂
@TrungTPhan That is the power of seamless integration across a wide and growing ecosystem. They might not be first to market in most cases, but when they do arrive, it works so much better than any other option. That holds major value for people who just want things to work without fuss.
@TrungTPhan Win at what? Apple AI functionality is a laughing stock and a case study of over promising and under delivering and being late to the party. They literally had to start over multiple times and change their partners.
@TrungTPhan There’s may be more profit in monopolizing a market and extracting junk fees as a useless middleman than in building stuff, but this horror show should not be celebrated.
@TrungTPhan lol classic Apple W. they could drop a brick and call it innovation and we'd all line up
there's some weirdness with companies when they get this big. companies like Alphabet are literally sitting on massively valuable technology, but sitting pretty in their kingdom they take time to translate. like if waymo was being more aggressive it would be so big right now, along with google models. but they're sitting on this gold mine

We won’t actually know if Tim Cook’s capex strategy will pay off long term. I wrote about how it could go wrong in this write up on Cook’s 15-year CEO career. The good, the bad and the Apple Intelligence: https://www.readtrung.com/p/tim-cooks-apple?r=hapok&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
if you don’t follow overhyped trends you might just become the biggest company in the world.
