Claude AI Makes Non-Trivial Observation to Nearly Solve Stalled Research
A physicist said Claude Fable found a calculation error, suggested a broader approach, and helped revive a project that had been stuck for months.
In a post on X relayed by @42_gravity, physicist Yuji Tachikawa said he showed Claude Fable notes from a collaborative research project that had seen no progress for about six months. According to the translated post, the model first identified a calculation mistake, then, after being told the same roadblock remained, suggested a broader approach that Tachikawa said "almost solved" the problem. Tachikawa also said Claude wrote SymPy code to check that prediction, and that his own follow-up review suggested the result looked promising, though not fully settled.
