Butterfly effect: one of the last convos I had with Mark in the beginning of 2023 was pushing to create a smaller FAIR v2 in order to ruthlessly pursue AGI (while YLC was in the middle of rebranding it to "mon AMI" for "Artificial Machine Intelligence"). Mark's response was that this was what the new GenAI org was meant to do: create "AGI products".
I did not have the capability to explain how farfetched AGI products would be, given how far off-track things were from AGI. All the while, the trustworthy sycophants around him promised to deliver the moon, while rushing to fill the ranks with their bffs in order to legitimize their resume before going to OpenAI.
It really is no surprise we're seeing the aftermath of this debacle 2 years later. Even when executives are visionaries, it's not enough when the lieutenants are rotten.
