ASU Marks Nearly 50 Years of AI Research and Education
——0——
For the record, AI research at ASU really started with my late colleague, Nicholas Findler--who came to ASU almost a decade before me in 1982. Nick started working in AI from 1957--just a mere year after the field got its name, and was, for a time, a research associate with Newell and Simon. Nick has had wide-ranging interests in AI. A 1997 bio sketch lists Simulation of Cognitive Behavior, Heuristic Programming, Decision Making under Uncertainty and Risk, Theory of Strategies, Computational Linguistics, Information Retrieval, and Expert Systems. He was, in short, AI-Complete. https://asura.asu.edu/nicholas-findler

..and I can be partially blamed for 34 of those ~50 years..🤷♂️ https://news.asu.edu/thrive-magazine
