Leaked report says AWS spent $500 million on Anthropic's Claude in one month, adding $6 billion to ARR

If this is happening at a company as sophisticated as Amazon, it’s happening in many other places which then begs the question “What is the true run-rate revenue, ex-waste, at the frontier labs?”

@SingularityRes Not quite. Equity position and related earnings are non-operating income. For $AMZN it has no bearing on valuation and gets discounted out by experienced analysts. They own less than 20% so use “cost method”.

@SingularityRes this is hilarious, claude models are privately hosted on aws bedrock for internal usage. not sure why they have to pay anything to anthropic. they owns good portion of anthropic and I would guess this private usage comes with the deal

it’s part of the licensing agreement when you Claude on bedrock - it’s only for privacy concerns, not cheaper compute
