    TLDR

Andrew McCalip posted that he holds strong conviction self-managing agentic systems will soon control large amounts of resources. He asked who owns liability for their actions and listed three candidates: the host of the model, the trainer, or the person who deployed the system. McCalip works as an engineer at Varda Space Industries building spacecraft and previously co-founded Cosine Additive, which GE acquired. The statement appeared in a public post discussing future deployment of such systems.

@andrewmccalipI was just having an interesting discussion with someone about this. I have a lot of conviction that in the near future we'll want to allow self-managing agentic systems to control large amounts of resources. But who owns the liability for their actions? The host of the model? The trainer? The person who deployed the agent? How do we tax an asset-holding model? Do we need a new corporate structure to accommodate self-managing entities? I think taxes may end up being the on-ramp to recognizing agents in the legal system. The moment an agent can earn income, hold assets, enter transactions, and incur liabilities, the government needs some legally legible thing to attach all of that to.
