Industry figures call for automatic O-1 visas for top PhDs
@signulll Good ridance to him, glad one more chinese spy is gone for good
@agupta Preach! More economic visas plz
@wolfejosh Could not agree more.
imagine focusing on distillation. distillation purely a tactical surface. the higher order failure is that america subsidizes the education, network formation, & research maturation of elite technical talent, then makes permanent belonging uncertain enough that competitors inherit the finished product. i can’t believe we’re obsessing over whether they copied yesterday’s model while voluntarily exporting the people capable of building tomorrow’s. ridiculous.
The cost of not making it easier for top talent to establish itself in the US is extremely high. Top PhDs in ML should get automatic O-1 visas IMO
@signulll probably because it’s harder to start a company in the US, visa-wise? probably would’ve ended up working at apple
kimi’s founder & ceo got his phd at cmu. why didn’t he stay in america?!
@signulll Many are telling me it is getting harder to be an immigrant in USA and China is a more interesting place for innovators.
Gee I wonder why.
