ChatGPT Work temporarily removes five-hour limit to fix rate issues
After users on X said GPT-5.6 was chewing through usage caps too fast, an OpenAI-linked account said paid plans would temporarily lose the five-hour restriction while efficiency changes roll out.
A complaint about GPT-5.6 usage burning down too fast turned into a product update on X hours later. After user @kimmonismus said even medium settings were eating through a five-hour allowance and all three resets, @thsottiaux posted on X that ChatGPT Work and Codex were temporarily removing the five-hour usage limit for Plus, Business and Pro plans, while rolling out changes meant to make GPT 5.6 Sol more efficient. He also said the exact impact would be quantified later.
