The case that AI-mediated work is devaluing human input

A user argues that planning with AI and using it for workplace exchanges are making human input less valuable.

    TLDR

A user sketches a routine of building plans with AI over months, using it to type or assign tasks to employees and accountants, then getting replies written with those workers’ own AI tools. They argue that the value of human brains in that loop is falling every week.

antra@tessera_antraI think there is an irreducible-computation-through-the-world thing that may last for a little while - maybe a year or several - where value of *some* human brains in the loop will increase and stay high. There is value to the kind of persistence/continuity that humans have integrates them into world-as-computing-substrate which still dwarfs anything digital. Training does a decent job of capturing a proxy of its generating function, but it’s superlinearly costly to sim forward. Machines need persistent embodiment and interaction - both physical and online - in order to capture this value. Humans as proxies for embedded computation will stay valuable, but only those who are good at being proxies. Need to have strong perception, an ability to hold large volumes of precepts either uncollapsed or collapsed with optimal compression, an ability to minimize motivated reasoning / filtered perception, and an ability to open their mind to the machine at high bandwidth. These people are already in short supply and command high premium on the market. I believe that these people will have the highest degree of impact on the shape of the world to come. They are also first to be changed/uplfited, both psychologically and through augmentation.47m
