Users find OpenAI's Lockdown Mode for ChatGPT unnerving because it reveals prompt injection issues have grown severe enough to need a basic chatbot fallback, while accusing coverage of hiding related issues.

Why is lockdown mode optional? or at least not the default? People, regrettably, talk to AI as it if a friend, lover, doctor, lawyer, priest so undoubtedly most people are divulging information that they wouldn't want people to know. Heck, they probably think that it already is locked down. Why should we trust these chat bots anyway?

@Gizmodo the unnerving part isn't the feature. it's that prompt injection got bad enough that the fix is a button turning the agent back into a 2023 chatbot
