According to a post citing CNBC, Anthropic has explored 20–30 megawatt compute deals in the U.K. and Nordics, while OpenAI has looked at Nordic opportunities. The account describes smaller deployments as a way to access powered capacity sooner, complementing the labs’ much larger projects. It says these smaller clusters are particularly useful for inference—running trained AI models—because those workloads can be spread across multiple sites.
