Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warns the AI industry needs $800 billion to $1 trillion in revenue to justify current CapEx

Can someone please reel this guy in? Walking PR disaster. "Hey we are going to automate your jobs. Hey we are going to pull back and secretly have the models try to trick you to stop you from catching up. Hey we need billions of your dollars" stfu lol

Dario's answer to Dwarkesh on why he won't buy $300B-1T of compute sure was incomplete. But I guess it would have been unwise to spell out "our competitors will willingly surrender their clusters because *they* have overbuilt and can't generate revenue with their shit models"

Once again the boy who cried wolf, Dario is at it again. Meanwhile in a note part of the world they put out open source on almost no budget.

Perhaps he can stop with this form of marketing?

If this guy continues to spout off as he has, there is a good chance he may cause not and AI Winter, but an AI Ice Age.

but i think the answer to why he didnt build more before is just that he was surprised by the growth. he wasnt sufficiently agi-pilled, so he underinvested.

he may be making the same mistake again, or maybe he sees the path you describe.

But once they step out of their fantasy-world and into reality, all their superpowers go away.

These companies likely won't even make it to the IPO.
