Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch commits to open-weight releases for all current and upcoming models

AI, just like oil in the 20th century, is about to become the major source of leverage and power in the world. We've built Studio (for deployment) and Forge (for training) as portable products, and are now hosting them on infrastructure we control. We'll run in your VPC, your datacenter, or on our infrastructure that is decoupled from US service providers. We have capacity online, it's growing fast, and we can help you secure it.

We're working with companies and governments around the world to make sure their AI systems are up and running outside of external control, improving with each model release, and with an efficient cost structure. Forge allows to continuously train models based on recorded human-AI interaction, a key unlock for efficiency.

would be very nice to have a tech report with it, i'm sure your research team would love to share with the world what they have been working on! i remember at the creation of mistral you said that the lab had the goal to continue what FAIR did in Paris, with open research and model ecosystem (microsoft, deepseek, kimi, nvidia etc. are all doing this, and you can argue it's working pretty well for them!)

@arthurmensch So... if one cannot use the cloud will we get something that a person with a normal rig (32gb vram) can actually use? Because all this talk of companies, governments, industry makes me think we aren't even getting the scraps, which would be really sad.
