AI trained on a person’s work doesn’t change its mind like they do, one post argues

One post warns that conviction doesn’t make an opinion fact: someone can argue the opposite view a year later with the same certainty.

    TLDR

One post warns against mistaking conviction for fact, noting that someone can reverse their opinion while sounding just as certain. Quoting that warning, another defends “strong opinions, weakly held” and connects the idea to AI trained on a person’s writing, videos or tweets. Its argument: people change their minds in light of new information, but AI trained on their work does not.

@GergelyOroszIDK why anyone has a problem with having strong opinions, weakly held. This is, by the way, also why the category of “an AI trained on person X” is absolutely BS. People change their minds in light of new information, the “AI trained on X’s writing/videos/tweets” does not
@dhhI love this compilation so much. Because both sides hold true! If you let AI write all your bash, you won't learn bash, if you didn't already know it. And if you haven't updated your priors about AI since mid 2025, you're ngmi. Let new facts lead to new opinions!
