    TLDR

The New York Post reports deep ties between Effective Altruism and the AI watchdog handpicked by Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, describing the movement as “woke.” One commenter argues that the problem is a lack of independence and shared ideology with Anthropic—not “wokeness.” Another criticizes AI safety’s ties to the movement but argues that people’s sex lives are irrelevant and attacks on one group won’t address the dangers of current and near-future AI.

@venturetwinsIt’s really unfortunate for people who genuinely care about AI safety that the movement has become so deeply entwined with EAs / rationalists. Hard to get folks to take it seriously when these groups are publicly tied to SBF, polyamory, Harry Potter fanfic, and a murder cult.
@xlr8harderkeep your culture war out of my ai war please

@GarrisonLovelyI really did not think the hit on AI safety orgs would be that they hire too few white dudes lol
@GaryMarcusTotally agree that AI safety has been too tied up with a various specific movement that is not as rational as their name might suggest. But, c’mon, their sex lives aren’t relevant, and hit pieces on one particular group are not going to solve the very real issues around the dangers of current and near-future AI.

@thecollegehillthe problem with effective altruism isn't "woke". EAs aren't really even woke in the first place the problem is that they're not actually independent and share the same doomsday cult ideology as Anthropic (and subsequently, the same biases)
@So8resThis is what it looks like when they don't have substantive arguments against the dangers posed by AI.
