TLDR

A visitor to Tesla's Gigafactory says a tour guide told him workers weren't worried about training their replacements and that major job expansions were planned because of Optimus. The visitor also described workers using headset-like gear to train Optimus in Texas and California, and predicted a job boom and higher salaries.

Robert Scoble@ScobleizerPeople who believe melted sand is human are taking us down a bad path. Our tour guide at Tesla Gigafactory yesterday told me workers aren’t worried about training their replacements. Workers are walking around with weird contraptions (think something like a VR headset) to do the training for Optimus. In Texas and California. In robotics it is the one who has the most data that wins. People aren’t thinking about this huge advantage Tesla has in robotics. He said they are planning major job expansions because of Optimus. Already 20,000 work there. AI got a lot of people laid off, right? So why is there traffic everywhere in America? In Silicon Valley when they got laid off they didn’t get on the freeway at 7 a.m. (back in 2001 the freeways were empty). My thesis is we are about to see a job boom and increased salaries. So many new things to build.1h
