Demis Hassabis’s quest to use AI to unravel science’s mysteries

The Wall Street Journal reports that Demis Hassabis dreamed as a boy of building AI capable of cracking the universe’s mysteries. He says his goal in founding the lab that became Google DeepMind was to build AI, understand the mind and then use it to understand science. He sums up the plan as: “Step one, solve intelligence. Step two, solve everything else.”
