Seems like the xAI story is quietly surfacing the hardest question in frontier AI right now: can you build a competitive coding model if a competitor controls the best model available to bootstrap from? Anthropic revoked OpenAI's access under the same logic in August 2025, so this isn't a one-off call. The IPO timing makes it sharper. $150B in demand is pricing in AI product velocity that may need 6-12 months of catch-up to substantiate.
