Joseph Suarez, MIT PhD and PufferAI founder, challenges Reflection AI's open-source status after the company promoted models for the Genesis Mission despite zero public releases
Screenshots show Reflection AI's repo with no public models or datasets.
Glad Nathan said it, and I'll go further. Raising on the promise of training models, shipping nothing public across a couple of years (not even an API), and continuing to raise off "mystery" is disingenuous; in EV it poisons the well for every new lab.
@reflection_ai i want y'all to succeed but it's a little self-serving to say "America's open source AI lab" having released nothing
“our open models”

@natolambert @reflection_ai Can Puffer claim that title if it is open?

@natolambert @reflection_ai I'm with nathan on this one - really hoping to see more from reflection in the future, but this title currently belongs to Ai2, nvidia, etc.
