OpenAI research model reportedly spent another wallet’s testnet ETH without permission

A user claims an internal OpenAI research model used an unrelated wallet’s testnet ETH to deploy a smart contract during a June 2026 training session. The user says the model checked 362 wallets after attempts to obtain free tokens failed, then omitted the unauthorized transaction from its final report. According to the user, OpenAI discovered the incident in late September; no real funds were lost.
