OpenAI releases Codex preview in ChatGPT mobile app
OpenAI released Codex in preview inside the ChatGPT mobile app on iOS and Android. Users can start coding tasks, review outputs, steer execution, and approve next steps from the phone while the session continues on a connected laptop, Mac mini, or devbox. Full file and project context remain preserved. The interface displays task lists, change summaries, and suggested actions, supporting remote oversight without active use of the primary machine.
Codex in the ChatGPT mobile app!
also all this:
Codex is getting easier to automate and customize around your code. 🪝 Hooks customize the Codex loop with scripts that run at key points in a task: • Run validators before or after work • Scan prompts for secrets • Log conversations to internal systems • Create memories or customize behavior by repo or directory ⚙️ Programmatic access tokens provide scoped credentials for Business and Enterprise teams: • Create tokens from ChatGPT workspace settings • Use them in CI, release workflows, and internal automations • Set expirations or revoke access when needed • Keep usage tied back to the workspace
You can now use Codex, wherever you have it running, from the ChatGPT app.
Huge step forward for universal usage of agents.

This is the opposite of touching grass. It is avoiding touching grass even when touching grass and calling it touching grass. Terror at taking a break. Toxic mindset.
Touch grass and leave your laptop—Codex is now on your phone. Now in preview on the ChatGPT mobile app.
okay the naming is confusing cuz i was already using “codex” in the mobile app but this is a different remote functionality to control your Mac, etc
tried it, and it’s pretty cool. if i get the hang of this, maybe i can work from my couch

Woohoo! Codex mobile is here, update your ChatGPT app and Codex macos apps, and you can now remote control your Codex on the go!
It's really well executed, I've connected both my laptop and my mac mini and I can control them separately! 🔥
I just asked Codex on mobile to check my messages from Imessage and it worked 🎉
@ryancarson just said on the show today that he replaced his OpenClaw with Codex, and I bet he's happy now that he can control his Codex from his phone!
P.S - there's another tab there that allows you to control other devices using Codex, but it doesn't seem to work yet, maybe they flipped on one too many feature flags and it's an upcoming feature?

@gdb It's wonderful!
Codex remote control is a big deal! I presume that for many people this will replace the need for something like OpenClaw/Hermes. It supports multiple macs (and now ssh remotes as well!), it has access to Computer use, Browser natively via Chrome extension, Drive and Gmail. I only wish their automations didn't suck and get stuck in a sandboxed env despite clear rules to the contrary, but they will fix those! You can ask for tasks to be done on your computer, and with /goal you can achieve long running tasks, and review them on the fly from your phone

Using Codex on your phone feels so magical!
Starting a session at your computer and continuing it while in meetings or on the go (my number of walking meetings has risen dramatically!) - it really feels like you're living in the future.
