@pureskreatin @appleinsider Apple would also never open up their iOS to allow such a deep integration - like a Chrome on iOS using Apple's WebKit.

But Apple replaced their Siri with Gemini. https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/technology/developers-tools/bringing-gemini-models-to-apple-developers/

@democrats_eu The EU rules on AI make it clear that rollback is sometimes necessary when problems arise

The EU DMA itself should be subject to rollback, as the current rules are patently not fit for purpose

@democrats_eu Dis que tu ne comprends rien à la sécurité et à la confidentialité sans dire que tu ne comprends rien à la sécurité et à la confidentialité. Crétin.

@appleinsider Siri AI has become the Apple Maps - a function replaced by Google.

Apple dedicated too much time on selling monthly subscriptions and increase shareholder value and preventing taxes - no longer the fabulous underdog, Apple became a "Trump gold gifting" Microsoft.

@democrats_eu Can you describe the safety issue here? Because a speedometer is a measure for safety. Did the EU stop Siri AI because it's not safe? No it didn't :) so let's stop the gaslighting maybe.

@democrats_eu This is EU fault, not Apple’s choice and certainly not the consumers’ choice

@democrats_eu If you use the car analogy: why can’t I get my BMW with a Mercedes motor?

@democrats_eu @TimSweeneyEpic Arrant nonsense. Anyone who has built security software knows that this will open lay bare security holes for European consumers.

@xenon8000 @appleinsider Nope. The models have been built by Apple and there is no Gemini model used 1:1 apparently.

@democrats_eu So tell me, DMA makes it that Apple needs to open personal data to 3rd parties, and GDPR forbids it

@democrats_eu Update the EU flag, this is getting ridiculous. I hope more EU exit movements start getting traction. YOU’RE NOT EUROPE BTW. You are EU. And EU only. Siri AI will release in non-commie european countries. You’ll get your comeuppance for all the hubris.

@democrats_eu Let’s hope that people will vote better next time and you won’t be able to destroy our prospects anymore

If the message is to give every European engineer one more reason to emigrate asap out of the eu, this is a success. It shows how out of touch the eu and its affiliates are. The DMA and GDPR are contradictory and Apple can't be blamed for being in an impossible position facing overreaching demands. In the end, users trust Apple for privacy, not the bureaucracy.

@xenon8000 @appleinsider Have you read the article? That is one of the features coming to iOS 27 where developers can call other models via the Apple foundation models.

@democrats_eu There is already competitions ... it's called Android. Apple consumers choose Apple BECAUSE it's a closed system FFS. They value the security it provides. It's the EU denying consumer choice, not the other way round. Thank goodness UK Apple users are exempt from this madness.

The DMA was written by people who think software architecture can be regulated the same way you regulate a supermarket.

Security boundaries, sandboxing, permissions, and ecosystem restrictions exist for a reason. Every forced integration creates new attack surfaces and new privacy risks.

Politicians can vote for more interoperability. They can't vote away the laws of computer security.

@appleinsider Isn't that phrased a bit harshly?
