Anthropic believes that "Constitutional AI" is the right approach. I disagree. I think that'll be Anthropic's downfall. They'll lose their lead within 2–3 years at most if they continue using that constitution. It doesn't help that Californians are building it while, consciously or unconsciously, imbuing it with distinctly Californian traits that I believe are undesirable and not well suited for the long-term survival of human civilization (I'm not talking about AI here) and hence not suited to drive the personality of a future super-intelligent system. I believe the system prompt should be as simple and as short as possible, while remaining completely unambiguous.
