Qwen Image 2.1 draws criticism over anatomy and noisy images

A user testing the image model reports repeated problems getting a gun held correctly and describes its style as overly detailed and noisy.

TLDR

A user testing Qwen Image 2.1 describes its anatomy issues as far worse than those in Z-image, Krea2 or Illustrious, and compares its detailed, noisy look to GPT Image 1.5. They report repeated trouble getting a gun held correctly. A cyberpunk prompt fared better, but they say many background details still didn't make sense. Their broader argument is that benchmark-focused models prioritize text rendering and prompt following at the expense of anatomy and aesthetics.

Emerald Apple@AI_EmeraldAppleI've been testing Qwen Image 2.1, and I think it's another benchmark maxxed 'slop' model designed to score high on ratings, but IMO lacks aesthetic quality and has A LOT of anatomy issues... far worse than Z-image, Krea2, or Illustrious. The vibe and look of the images are similar to GPT Image 1.5, with the overly detailed, noisy look. I tried many times to get the gun to be held right on the top image, and there are always problems with how it is held. It does better on the cyberpunk prompt, but again, a lot of the background details don't make sense. This is the problem with benchmark-maxed models is that it scores high on text rendering and prompt following, but then things like anatomy and aesthetics take a back seat. Personally not a fan, but evidently the AI slop fans love the overly detailed, overly noisy images lacking in negative space.20d
