Just to be clear this is no shade at @erikbryn ( Erik Brynjolfsson), who is sharp, smart, open to thoughtful discussion (as OP said). He generally sees the world a bit differently than me but I respect his work and opinion and I follow him here. But to lay my cards on the table, I am firmly against Precautionary Principle in all forms and believe the Proactionary Principle is the only clear, sound, sane way to make legislation.
