    TLDR

A post recalls an unnamed Mistral cofounder criticizing someone for writing a whole paper on tied embeddings to make a name for himself. According to the account, the founder considered the topic a trivial implementation detail examined in one of his own papers. The author characterizes the complaint as bitterness and closes with the observation that “marketing, in times of war, is a real business!”

@suchenzangbefore one of the mistral founders went power-fame-hungry cuckoo, he had a rant about how west coast people were all so useless like there was the guy who wrote a whole paper on tied embeddings to make a name for himself, when that detail was simply a trivial implementation detail ablated for one of his own papers i think about this bitterness often (marketing, in times of war, is a real business!)
